MINUTES:

Minutes from September 6, 2010, meeting – approved by email and sent to office for posting.

AGENDA ITEMS:

Placing Cards

The revisions that Fran had done on the placing cards all looked good. It was suggested that we also add an optional space for the scorecard totals on the placing cards. The scores on the placing cards can be used by the fleece clerks for ease of determining placings in the Championship class. Any tiebreakers can be notated there as well. The placing cards are back for revision.

Scorecards

The word "crimp" has been revised to "crimp/crinkle" throughout the scorecards, where appropriate, and the wording under Architecture was revised on the Shorn and Fleece On 'With Crimp/Crinkle' scorecards. Mary Jo made a motion to approve these changes; Betty seconded motion. All ayes; motion passed unanimously.

Fleece Product Entry Cards

The Fleece Products Entry Tag was revised to request a "Brief Description/Story" about the item entered, in order to give the judge a better understanding of what work went into making the piece. Betty made a motion to approve these changes; Pam seconded motion. All ayes; motion passed unanimously.

Yarn & Woven Scorecards

The Yarn scorecard was revised to include various methods used in the making of the yarn, in order to give the judge a better understanding of what work went into making the yarn. The Woven scorecard was revised to edit a numbering on the scorecard. Pam made a motion to approve these changes; Lynda seconded motion. All ayes; motion passed unanimously.

Fleece Product Definitions

The committee discussed the Fleece Products definitions put together by Lynda and Betty. There were some revisions made to the wording under Felted Products, and also on the Felted scorecard. Mary Jo made a motion to approve the Fleece Products descriptions; Pam seconded the motion. All ayes; motion passed unanimously.

Management Guide

The Fleece Show Management Guide needs to be updated and revised. Pam volunteered to do the updating with Judy, who submitted the original guide.

Guidelines revisions for Fleece and Fleece Products

The guidelines for Fleece and Fleece Products need to be updated and revised. Judy was volunteered to do the updating and revisions. It was mentioned that "Guard Hair" and "Undercoat" are terms that need to be added to the Fleece Definitions in the Guidebook.

NEW BUSINESS:

Get of Sire and Produce of Dam Fleece Classes

The committee discussed the idea of having "Get of Sire" and "Produce of Dam" classes in Shorn Fleece and Fleece On divisions. These classes would be similar in concept to halter get and produce classes, in that positive characteristics from the sire or dam would be looked at in the offspring fleece.  This idea needs further discussion of rules, scoring, etc, by the committee.

Additional Fleece Products classes

Karen Dean had submitted some suggestions for some additional fleece products classes, along with suggested scorecards for each. The committee liked the ideas that Karen submitted and will look into implementing some of them in an Other class. Lynda and Betty will look at what crafts could be added.

Motion to adjourn was made by Betty; Lynda seconded. All ayes, motion passed.

Next meeting is tentatively scheduled for Monday, November 15th. Meeting adjourned at 9:40 pm EST.

Note: All motions approved by the Fleece Committee still need to be approved by the Governing Board before they go into effect.

Minutes submitted by Pamela Tait, ILR Fleece Committee Secretary.
