On November
24, 2013, Tom Rothering, on behalf of the Performance
Committee, submitted via e-mail the following for
consideration by the ILR-SD Governing Board:
The
performance committee worked to try to combine the thoughts
and ideas from both versions of the novice performance
changes. We feel this version benefits the ILR-SD
performance division.
SUGGESTED CHANGE TO NOVICE PERFORMANCE GUIDELINES TO READ:
VIII. PERFORMANCE
A. PERFORMANCE GUIDELINES
6. Novice Performance Animals: Novice refers to the animal's
ability and not the ability of the handler.
a) Animals must show in the appropriate division.
Eligibility requirements for animals to show in the Novice
Division are outlined as follows.
1) A Novice Animal is defined as an animal who has not
previously earned 3 placings consisting of either 1st, 2nd,
or 3rd, in each of the respective performance classes. Class
size must be 5 entries or more; or 3 first place wins
in class sizes of 3 or more. These guidelines pertain to
animals shown in any Performance division (Novice, Youth,
Open,or Advanced) in any Show Association or Open Show*. FFA
and 4H are not considered show associations.
2) Upon entering into the Novice Division of ILR-SD, animals
can remain in each *class until they have earned 45 ILR-SD
Points per class including Youth classes. Once an animal has
received 45 ILR-SD Points per class including Youth classes,
they must move to Advanced.
(*class meaning: Freestyle Obstacle; Companion PR,
Trail/Pack)
3) If a Novice animal has moved to the Advanced Division in
any other Show Association, they must show in the Advanced
Division in the ILR-SD.
4) It is up to the Owner/Exhibitor to keep a record of their
animal's placements and points and to enter the animal
correctly when entering ILR-SD Performance Classes.
5) Animals shown in the inappropriate division will be
subject to having any Placements, Awards, and Titles removed
from them by the Governing Board.
6) At any time the handler may deem their animal capable of
moving up to the Advanced Division without the need to
exceed the Novice Division requirements.
7) A handler may elect to move a Novice animal to the
Advanced division while at a show, but are allowed to move
only 1 animal per show and this move must be approved by
show management prior to the start of the show.
The motion failed to garner the required eight (8)
votes for passage. Motion fails.
Respectfully submitted,
