Page 93, Section F. Approved Youth Point Classes

should be.

("e) Youth Judging")/

B.
Page 95, Section H. Purpose
a.
The
explanation of the purpose does not include the use of
ILR-SD Youth Judging Forms or Tests.
b.
Elaine motioned those explanatory sentences for the purpose
be changed as follows (change marked in italics): "To
provide the opportunity for ILR-SD members to experience the
show ring from the Judge's perspective and encourage members
to pursue judge's training. This may be held in conjunction
with an ILR-SD sanctioned show or in conjunction with a
different event, provided that an ILR-SD judge is used and
is qualified to judge the classes in the competition, and
that ILR-SD approved Youth Judging Forms and ILR-SD approved
Tests are used."
i.
Sharon seconded and the motion passed
unanimously.
ii.
Michelle will email Debbie with the approved change (see
above).
C.
Pages 95-96, Section H1. Participants
a.
The
Youth Judge mentorship program has been put on hold until we
can develop the program and there is only one place in the
2013 Guidelines that still
mentions this. It happens to be in this section, which is
confusing.
b.
Elaine motioned that the reference to the Youth Judge
mentorship program be deleted from this sentence so that it
reads as follows: "The ILR-SD Youth Judging Competition is a
separate class."
i.
Karen seconded and the motion passed
unanimously.
ii.
Michelle will email Debbie with the approved change (see
above).
D.
Page 96, Section H3. Classes to be Judged
a.
There was some discussion about the Shorn Fleece
division being included as one of the four divisions for
youth judging.
i.
Currently, there are no youth judging forms developed
for this class; nor is there a point system developed for
scoring the youth shorn fleece judging classes.
ii.
Youth judging already adds additional time to the
show so adding another class within youth judging may make
it too long of a time commitment to be included in a show.
iii.
Having a reliable source of reasonable quality
fleeces that can be worked over by youth during the judging
class is an unknown variable.
iv.
Are there youth and judges interested in
participating in and judging these classes.
b.
After this discussion, Karen motioned that we send
this problem to the Fleece committee for their input. If
they agree that the fleece judging option should be removed
from youth judging competition, then the Youth Committee
will bring this back for a vote.
i.
Michelle seconded and the motion passed
unanimously.
ii.
Michelle will email this information to the Fleece
Committee.
E.
Page 96, Section H4. Process
a.
The current guidelines do not specify that juniors
need to complete an ILR-SD approved Youth Judging test.
b.
Elaine motioned that the following would be changed
in the guidelines (change marked in
italics): "Juniors would complete a written ILR-SD
approved Youth Judging test."
i.
Karen seconded and the motion passed
unanimously.
ii.
Michelle will email Debbie with the approved change (see
above).
F.
The ILR-SD Youth Judging forms need to be included in
the 2014 Guidelines under Appendix A: Sample forms. Michelle will send these to the Guidelines Committee.
G.
The ILR-SD Youth Committee needs to finalize the
Youth Judging Manual and submit it to the Governing
Committee by August 28, 2013.
a.
Michelle will re-send out the last draft of this
manual to the Youth Committee.
b.
Michelle will connect with Debbie via phone to
develop an action plan for completion of the Youth Judging
Manual.
c.
Michelle and Debbie will send out assignments to the
Youth Committee via email to work on independently and
submit back to the committee before the next committee
conference call.
H.
