The ILR Board had a very productive Face-to-Face meeting in July and we would like to share some important information with the membership.

New ILR Board Officers - the membership elects the ILR Board members and then the board itself nominates and elects the slate of officers for the upcoming year. The officers for 2010-2011 are as follows:

            President: Mary Jo Miller

            Vice-President: Bill Safreed

            Treasurer: Kathi McKinney

            Secretary: Kristy Brown

            Member at Large: Mark Smith

The ILR Board members also hold the same office for the International Lama Foundation (ILF) and the ILR Show Division.

Youth Activities for 2010 & 2011

·        The ILR Board will be staffing a table for the 2010 Future Farmers of America National Convention in October in Indianapolis, IN. The board members will use this opportunity to celebrate the 25^th Anniversary of the Registry and educate the FFA members about the opportunities available in the llama world, including the ILR Show Division (ILR-SD) and the ILR Universal Awards Program (ILR-UAP)

·        Pot of Gold Gelding Futurity for Youth – the ILR Board is developing a program where breeders can nominate geldings for the youth futurity and list them for FREE on the llamaOOgle sale site on the ILR website, www.lamaregistry.com. Youth that purchase a nominated gelding through the website are automatically entered in the futurity. More information will be sent to the members as the program is finalized. The Gelding Futurity for Youth will begin in January 2011.

Show Division

·        ILR Show Division Championships will be designated on the ILR registration certificates!!

·        2011 ILR Show Division International Finals Show – the 2011 International show is a reality!

The superintendent for the ILR-SD 2011 International Finals event will be Norris Berg of Ellsworth, WI Mark Smith will serve as the ILR Board Liaison to the International Show. 

 

The show will be held at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in DesMoines, IA. The date will be announced as soon as it can be confirmed but we are targeting early fall 2011.

The ILR Board contacted both the LFA board and the ALSA board to investigate the possibility of combining the three national shows - all three events will be held within a six week period and within 200 miles of each other. Combining the events would have created greater opportunities and lessened the costs to the llama show community. ALSA declined the proposal and the LFA postponed the decision until after the LFA sale in September, which was longer than the ILR Board felt comfortable in waiting to secure a facility for 2011. ·        International Show Dedication - in the tradition of other livestock and agribusiness National Events, the ILR Board has decided that each year the International Finals show will be dedicated to someone who has had an impact on the llama industry. The ILR Board has selected the recipient of the 2011 dedication and it will be announced after the date has been finalized.

ILR-UAP & ILR-IF

·        ILR Universal Awards Program Top Ten Lists are available online! Go to www.lamaregistry.com and click on UAP Top Ten Lists on the Home Page to check your standings.

·        ILR Incentive Fund – the ILR-IF has seen a 50% increase in participation in 2010! Payouts for 2008 and 2009 are listed on the ILR website, www.lamaregistry.com home page.

ILR 2010 Annual Meeting

The ILR Annual Meeting has been held at the ILR office in Kalispell, MT, at the LANA conference, the ALSA Grand Nationals and the LFA Futurity event. The ILR Board felt it was important to bring the Annual Meeting to the membership and incorporate it into one of the ILR Anniversary Shows. The 2010 Show will be held at the NAILE (North American International Livestock Expo) on November 3, 2010, in Louisville, KY. Jan will be at the show to run the annual meeting and will be available all weekend at an ILR Booth to answer your registry related questions. Please join us in Louisville for the Annual Meeting.
