GOVERNING BOARD Minutes
July 12, 2011

Meeting called to order at 8:07 EDT. Mary Jo Miller, Kristy Brown, Jan Wassink, David Armer, Pam Tait, Debbie Arendas, Kathi McKinney, Beth Myers, Bill Safreed, Matt Fruits, & Barb Baker. Karen Baum joined the call late and Ryan Laux was unable to attend the call.

The International Gathering of Friends and Champions Review:   

1.      Request from ILR Board that the Vice President of the ILR Board will run the Governing Board meetings. In the event that the ILR Vice President is unavailable, any member of the ILR Board may run the meeting. This change of process would become effective immediately. Motion by Barb, second by Matt. Motion passed unanimously.

2.      Motion to approve Norris Berg as superintendent for the 2012 Gathering. Motion by Beth, second by Matt. Motion passed unanimously.

3.      Venue for 2012 Gathering. The Iowa State Fairgrounds are available for Father’s Day Weekend for 2012. Motion to book the Iowa State Fairgrounds, Des Moines, IA on Father’s Day Weekend, June 15-17, 2012. Motion by Kathi, second by Pam. Motion passed unanimously.

4.      Barb will spearhead a committee to offer workshops and demonstrations evenings and during free times in the show schedule.

New Business:

1.       Motion to approve the assignment of Hank Kauffman for the Judge’s Committee. Motion by Barb, second by Karen. Motion passed unanimously.

2.       Motion to approve the assignment of Mark Smith for the Finance Committee. Motion by Matt, second by Pam. Motion passed unanimously.

Next Meeting: Tuesday August 9, 2011, at 8:00pm EDT.

Motion to adjourn at 8:29pm EDT:  motion by Beth, second by Barb. Motion passed unanimously.
