HALTER COMMITTEE Minutes
January 12, 2010

Call to order at 7:04 p.m. CST

The ILR-SD Halter Committee (ILR-SD HC) met by conference call on Tuesday, January 12, 2010. The following members of the ILR-SD HC participated: Darrell Anderson, Kristy Brown, Hank Kauffman, Ryan Laux, Justin Timm, and Amy Serridge.

The meeting was called to order at 8:45pm EST. Following a call of the roll, Mr. Timm noted that a quorum was present.

APPOINTMENT OF CHAIRMAN & SECRETARYMr. Timm explained that a new Chairman & Secretary for the 2010 term needed to be voted on.

Mr. Kauffman made a motion that Mr. Timm serve as Chairman and Ms. Serridge serve as Secretary. Mr. Laux seconded the motion There was no discussion. The motion passed unanimously. 

SHOWMANSHIP POINTS – The Committee discussed the points for the Showmanship Class.Mrs. Brown noted that the numbers from the 2009 show season have not yet been sent out to the Committee.

Ms. Serridge made a motion that the Adult Showmanship class should not be split into Novice and Advanced.  Mr. Laux seconded the motion There was no discussion. The motion passed unanimously. 

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ON ILR-SD WEBSITE – The Committee discussed the FAQ portion on the ILR-SD website and makes a recommendation that the Halter portion have a link directly to the Halter section in the ILR-SD Rule Book instead of questions & answers on the website which might not always have consistent answers.

OTHERMr. Laux requested that the old business of Guests Judges be reviewed. After discussion, Mr. Kauffman suggested that the ILR-SD HC make a recommendation to the ILR-SD Judges Committee and ask that they review the approval process of having a Guest Judge. 

Mrs. Brown briefly explained the 2010 Guidelines for running a dual sanctioned show. She stated that a class cannot be judged at the same time as the ILR-SD wool divisions are different from other organizations. The ILR class must be judged alone with the other show being judged in a separate ring or the following day of the show.   

Mr. Anderson expressed his appreciation for the work that has been done to the Results page on the ILR-SD website. 

There being no further business, Mr. Kauffman made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mrs. Brown seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 pm EST.
