<< Back ILR Show Division JUDGES' COMMITTEE Minutes March 28, 2013 Present: Tami Lash - Chair, Philip Feiner - Secretary, Sean Hart, Kay Berg, Kathi (Kat) McKinney      Absent: Ken Austin Meeting called to order at 7:03PM EST  Old Business: All paid judges and apprentices have received the 2013 Guidelines, as long as payment was received prior to February cut off. Anyone who paid his or her dues after that date can print their 2013 Guidelines off the Internet. We have reached out to those individuals that have not yet returned their Open Book Tests on numerous occasions. An e-mail indicating 2-week notice was sent by Philip on March 11, 2013. That deadline has passed. (Tests were due back Feb. 28th)  After discussion, the JC will notify the ILR office to remove those individuals' names from the list of active Judges/Apprentices as per the Guidelines.  Below is a listing of the e-mail communications sent: January 17, 2013 - e-Letter to all registered ILR-SD Judges and Apprentices that the annual dues were due to be paid on January 01, 2013, and that OB tests would be mailed shortly and due back to the Judges Committee on or before February 28, 2013. January 23, 2013 - e-mail to all registered Fleece Judges and Apprentices with the 2013 Annual Open Book Test and Weight Charts attached. January 23, 2013 - e-mail to all registered H,P,Y Judges and Apprentices with the 2013 Annual Open Book Test attached. February 20, 2013 - e-mail to all registered ILR-SD Judges and Apprentices reminding them that the Open Book Tests are due back on or before February 28, 2013.  March 11, 2013 - e-mail to all Judges and Apprentices form whom the Judges Committee had not received the Open Book Tests informing them that their tests had not been received and notifying them of their "Two week notice" to comply as per the Guidelines.  The following is a list of individuals who, as of this meeting, have not submitted their Open Book Tests. The following Judges have not returned their OB Tests:           Johanna Edmunds * Kim Yates* The following Apprentices have not returned their OB Tests: Ester Sue Sykes Gail Targett Josh Meador* Karen Dean Katie McCrone Larry Kisner Tonilyn Pearce Victoria Van Nevele The Fleece Committee has agreed to post the Fleece AW Chart online. Darlene Chambers has requested certification as a Fleece Judge. After consideration and review, the JC feels she would benefit from an additional apprenticeship. This is also online with the revised guidelines regarding a minimum of 3 apprenticeships. The Seminar Planning Guide has been reviewed and revised. We thank Fran Soukup for her help to this end. The committee will forward the document to the ILR office and ask that it be posted under Clinics/Seminars.  Patti Morgan has requested additional time to complete Fleece Mentorship. She has been granted the extension and expects to complete the mentorship by the end of June. New Business: We need to add a line on the Open Book Tests for name and date. Philip is keeping a list of notes for changes to the 2014 Guidelines. The deadline for submission is November 01, 2013. Need to add a note that dues are due On January 01. Kay has agreed to start creating a document indicating the suggested changes. Philip will send her a draft document from 2012 to assist her in this task. Gather suggestions for the next Newsletter. Philip is working on a draft with a target publication date of June. The JC has reviewed the individual evaluations from the Seminar held at Mark Smith's. Steve Auld, Tasia Youngers and Ryannon Peoples have requested acceptance into the Apprentice Program. After discussion, Ken moved to accept them into the Apprentice program, Kat seconded, no discussion, motion carried. Alaine Byers, Eran McCarty and Tricia Schneeberger have requested acceptance to the Fast Track program. After discussion, Philip moved to accept them into the Apprentice program, Kat seconded, no discussion, motion carried. The Judges Committee received a letter of concern from a Teaching Judge. Philip moved to go into Executive Session, Kat seconded, no discussion, motion carried. The Judges Committee left Executive Session. Philip moved to exit Executive Session, Ken seconded, no discussion, motion carried. Rick Neal and Deb Yeagle have successfully completed the requirements of the Fast Track program - HPY. Kat moves to accept Deb and Rick as HPY judges, Kay seconded, no discussion, motion carried.  Tricia Schneeberger sent a note suggesting supplies that would be helpful for an apprentice to have with them when working at a show. Philip will incorporate this list into the next newsletter. John McDougall has requested acceptance as an ILR-SD Teaching Judge. After review of the letters of recommendation received on John's behalf, the Judges' Committee is confident that John will make a welcome addition to the Teaching Judge roster. Philip moved to accept John as a Teaching Judge, Kat seconded, no discussion, motion carried. Vanessa Benagh has requested certification as a HPY Judge. She has successfully completed all of the requirements of her apprenticeship. Philip moved to accept Vanessa's request for certification, Kat seconded, no discussion, and motion carried.  Kat suggested a possible change to the language on the ILR-SD website regarding where to place the Seminar Guide. She will contact Philip for review if necessary. There was discussion at the past Seminar regarding the fact that the ILR-SD allows fiber to be considered as part of the score when placing an animal and in doing so, offers a percentage of 10% of the overall score. The committee feels that the existing language in the Guidelines could be modified. The JC will review the language as it relates to this in the current Guidelines and suggest a possible change.  Motion to Adjourn by Kay at 7:57PM EST.
